Practice drivers are to stage contemporary strikes coinciding with the Tory convention.
Aslef introduced its members at 16 prepare operators will stroll out on September 30 – the day earlier than the annual occasion – and the ultimate day on October 4.
The union mentioned the strikes will pressure prepare operators to cancel all companies.
It is going to trigger journey chaos for these heading to and from the Conservative convention in Manchester, which is being held from October 1 to 4.
Aslef members can even ban additional time from September 29 to October 6, which the union mentioned will “significantly disrupt” the rail community.
Mick Whelan, common secretary of Aslef, mentioned: “Whereas we remorse having to take this motion – we do not need to lose a day’s pay or disrupt passengers as they journey by prepare – the Authorities and employers have pressured us into this place.
“Our members haven’t had a pay rise for 4 years – since 2019 – and that is not proper when costs have soared in that point.
“Practice drivers fairly fairly need to have the ability to purchase now what they may purchase 4 years in the past.”
